Enrolling a customer in a loyalty program

Before a customer can start earning or redeeming loyalty points they must be enrolled in the loyalty program. In order to enroll them in the program, make sure they have an email attached to their profile. You can enroll a new customer into loyalty from either Lightspeed Retail or Lightspeed Restaurant.

Here is how to enroll a customer in Loyalty:

Lightspeed Retail (R-Series)

  1. Begin a new transaction in Lightspeed Retail and add the customer to the sale
  2. Add any items to the sale that the customer is purchasing
  3. When ready to checkout, click the "Loyalty" button on your sales screen (this button may be named slightly differently in your POS)
  4. On the new screen that opens, you will see a message that says "This customer is not a member". Click "Create Member" to enroll them in the loyalty program
  5. Make sure you assign the right Member Type if you have different Loyalty Members Types and click "Create Member"
  6. Click "Return to Invoice", which will take you back to the ongoing transaction
  7. Finalize the transaction as you usually would

Lightspeed Restaurant (L-Series)

  1. In Lightspeed Restaurant, navigate to a new table on the iPad and add the customer you would like to enroll to the table
  2. Add any items to the transaction that you want and when you are ready to finish the transaction, click Pay
  3. Choose your Loyalty payment method (often called "Account Summary" or "Loyal Action")
    • If you are not sure which payment method to use, in your restaurant's back office go to Payment Methods and look for the payment type "Loyalty"
  4. Choose "Loyal Action Loyalty" from the pop-up menu
  5. On the new screen that opens, you will see a message that says "This customer is not a member". Click "Create Member" to enroll them in the loyalty program
  6. Make sure you assign the right Member Type if you have different Loyalty Members Types and click "Create Member"
  7. Click "Return to Invoice", which will take you back to the ongoing transaction
  8. Finalize the sale as you normally would

Please note: Once a customer is enrolled, you can proceed with future transactions as you would any other transactions (without having to click on the Loyalty program button each time). They will accumulate points based on the items listed in their transaction.

Earning loyalty points

Once a customer is enrolled, you can proceed with future transactions as you would any other transactions - You do not have to click on the Loyalty program button each time. The customer will automatically accumulate points based on the items listed in their transaction

Please Note:

  • To ensure the customer earns the loyalty points the customer must be attached to the sale in either the Lightspeed Retail or Restaurant transaction
  • The points take some time to update in the program once you have initially enrolled someone into the Loyalty program
  • Points can be earned in both Lightspeed Retail and Restaurant depending on your campaign structure
  • To view the number of points any customer may have you can access this through the Loyalty back office by going to the "Contacts" page

Redeeming loyalty points

When a customer chooses to use their loyalty points, here is how you can redeem them in both Lightspeed Retail and Restaurant:

Lightspeed Retail (R-Series)

  1. Start a new sale in retail and attach the customer to the sale
  2. Add the items the customer is purchasing to the sale
  3. When ready to checkout, click the "Loyalty" button on your sale screen (this button may be named slightly differently in your POS)
  4. Choose the available reward campaign you want to redeem
    • Depending on the campaign type you may be required to enter the number of points the customer is using
  5. Click "Redeem" then "Ok" the confirmation note, which will take you back to the transaction
  6. Click "Payment", which will display the loyalty points as a payment method
  7. If there is still a balance owing choose another payment method and then Finish the sale

Lightspeed Restaurant (L-Series)

  1. In Lightspeed Restaurant, start a new table on the iPad and add the customer to the table
  2. Add any items to the sale and when they are ready to pay for the transaction, click Pay
  3. Choose your Loyalty payment method (often called "Account Summary" or "Loyal Action")
    • If you are not sure which payment method to use, in your restaurant's back office go to Payment Methods and look for the payment type "Loyalty"
  4. Choose "Loyal Action Loyalty" from the pop-up menu
  5. Choose the available award campaign you want to redeem
    • Depending on the campaign type you may be required to enter the number of points the customer is using
  6. Click "Redeem" then "Ok" the confirmation note, which will take you back to the transaction
  7. Complete the sale by adding any other payment methods if there is a balance still owing then Finalize the sale

How customers can view their loyalty points

Customers can log in to their Member Dashboard on www.chronogolf.com to view their loyalty points. Once a customer is logged in they can navigate to My Account and then choose Loyalty Points.

Customers will be able to see:

  • Amount of points earned or redeemed in a transaction
  • Date and location of transaction (Lightspeed Retail or Restaurant)
  • Their overall loyalty points balance
  • Loyalty type from LoyalAction
