When users search for a golf course in a search engine such as Google, they are presented with a list of titles and descriptions. These elements can be edited to more accurately represent your golf course when it shows up in a user’s search results. Using your website’s Yoast search engine optimization (SEO) plugin, you can set the same title and description on all pages of the website, or customize these elements for individual pages.

Setting site-wide meta title format and descriptions

You can set the same meta title format and descriptions to be shown on every page of the website from your Yoast settings:

  1. Go to the Yoast SEO settings in your Wordpress dashboard
  2. Click on Search Appearance
  3. In the top row of tabs, select Content Types
  4. Choose either Pages or Posts (everything except for blogs is classified as a Page)
  5. Add an SEO Title either manually or by inserting a predefined variable
  6. Add a Meta Description

Setting meta title format and description for individual pages

You can override the site-wide meta title and descriptions we set above for individual pages:

  1. Go to Pages in your Wordpress dashboard
  2. Click on the page you’d like to edit
  3. Scroll down to the Yoast SEO settings panel
  4. From the Google preview tab, choose Edit Snippet
  5. Add an SEO Title either manually or by inserting a predefined variable
  6. Add a meta description
